History speaks Dinosaurs first appeared in the Triassic (231.4 million years ago) and were the most dominant group of vertebrates for more than 165.4 million years until their extinction at the end of the Cretaceous (66 million years ago).
Cockroaches – an insect that appeared in the Carboniferous period, about 354–295 million years ago, a hundred million years before the dinosaurs – still exist today.
They have survived to this day because they are very adaptable. They live everywhere, from the toilet to the shoe cabinet, to the wardrobe… they can live anywhere.
According to Naturalist Charles Darwin: “In nature, it is not the strongest that will last, nor the most intelligent, but the one that is most able to improvise.”
Adapt = Survive/Success
Moral:
Swiss watches used to hold 50% of the world watch market in the 1970s. But with the advent of electronic watches, the market share of Swiss watches today is only 2%.
In the field of phones, Motorola used to be number 1, but was kicked out of the market by Nokia with the addictive game “Snake”.
But in turn, Nokia, the phone company was also forced to be inferior to Apple and Samsung, resulting in the sale of itself to Microsoft.
“Their failure story is very simple. It is adaptability. They do not know how to adapt, fall into a deadlock and lose market share. The world is changing a lot. The ability to adapt is key in any business. You can only choose to adapt or die,” said Adrian Toh, a Leadership Development expert from Singapore.
In this day and age, you don’t change, if you adapt quickly enough, you will die, but you don’t have to do anything wrong to die. As long as you stand still and do not improve, you will lose market share to rookies.
The success story here is: “Adapting and changing”.
Even cockroaches have this “burn-out” philosophy of life, why are you still afraid of failure?
