In 2007, the megastar delivered the ultimate blockbuster film, Sivaji: The Boss which minted money both in India and abroad. Seeing such a warm and massive response, the actor decided to visit a temple.
Despite being cautioned that there could be a stampede-like situation in the temple because of his presence, the actor was adamant and said that he would go in disguise.
Reportedly, his disguise was such that no one recognized the star. Rajinikanth was dressed in a crumpled shirt, simple lungi and a thick brown shawl and wore a dental prosthesis from this kit.
He reached the temple in disguise as an old man and walked with a limp. A 40-year-old woman took pity on the “old man”, approached the actor and gave him Rs 10 note. The actor who reportedly charges Rs 1 crore for a minute in a film was stunned, but humbly accepted the money and stepped into the shrine.
The lady observed that the old man offered Rs 100 in the temple donation and then saw him getting into a posh car after offering his prayers. She realized her mistake and immediately rushed to him to apologize. She offered to take her money back, but instead, the actor smiled at her and said that it was God’s way of reminding him that he was “nothing but a mere beggar at His altar”. He called her gesture to be “instrumental in His play act” and stated that it was the Almighty’s way of saying that “we are nobody in front of Him”. Reportedly, he humbly left the place with the Rs 10 note in the pocket.
Unquestionably, Rajinikanth is one of the legendary actors of the Indian Film Industry whose fandom rever him.
Notwithstanding massive fame and popularity, he prefers to follow the principle of simple living. As a philanthropist he indulges in a lot of charity work.
This particular incident is mentioned in Rajinikanth’s biography titled, The Name is Rajinikanth by Gayathri Sreekanth.
Moral:
Success comes to those who dedicate everything to their passion in life. To be successful, it is also very important to be humble and never let fame or money travel to your head!
Have a great week ahead…!
