Monday Motivation….. October 13, 2025 (768)
Several years ago, a boy named Martín used to pass by a small restaurant every afternoon, located on a quiet street in the city center.
The place was owned by Doña Elena, a woman with a firm character but a generous heart. Martín never asked for money; he simply waited patiently to the side until Elena came out with a small bag of food, which she handed to him without saying a word.
For weeks, this scene repeated like a silent ritual. Martín would take the food with a grateful smile, bow his head respectfully, and walk away with light steps.
One afternoon, moved by an intuition that wouldn’t leave her alone, Elena decided to speak to him: “Tell me, Martín… why don’t you eat at home? Is your mother sick?”
The boy’s face tensed for a moment, as if his memories weighed heavily. Then he forced a quick smile.
“Thank you, ma’am. I really appreciate it. But I must go…”
And without another word, he ran off.
That night, Elena couldn’t sleep. The next day, when Martín showed up again, she kept her distance and discreetly decided to follow him.
To her surprise, the boy didn’t go to a shelter, nor did he sit down to eat.
Instead, he walked to a modest little house at the end of a dusty street, carefully placed the bag of food on the porch, and ran away before anyone could see him.
Elena remained hidden, watching from the shadows. Minutes later, the door opened and a little girl stepped onto the porch.
When she saw the bag, her face lit up with joy. She ran inside shouting:”Mommy, Mommy, look!” Elena’s heart tightened. Why did Martín leave the food there and walk away without expecting anything in return?
The next day, when she saw him again, she couldn’t help but approach him.
“Martín,” she said softly, “I followed you yesterday. I saw what you did.”
He lowered his head, shame in his eyes.
“I didn’t want anyone to know,” he murmured. “That used to be my home… before my mother died. The family living there took us in for a while. They don’t have much, and now that I can give something back, I try to help them… but I don’t want them to see me. I just want to thank them.”
Elena felt a lump in her throat.
“You’re a noble boy, Martín. And if you’ll let me… I want to help you help them.”
From then on, she not only continued preparing food for him but also began sending larger packages with bread, fruit, and sweet treats for the children.
Over time, she offered the mother of the family a job at her restaurant and helped the younger children with their studies.
Moral:
Thanks to Doña Elena’s generosity and Martín’s big heart, that family was able to move forward. And Martín learned that sometimes, when you act with true love, help finds you… even when you’re not looking for it!
Have a great week ahead…!
