Monday Motivation….. June 09, 2025 (750)
I invited a carpenter to fix a piece of furniture my kids had damaged during the holiday.
This wasn’t the first time the furniture needed repairs.
It had been fixed multiple times before, yet it always broke again.
Every carpenter who worked on it offered no explanation.
When this carpenter arrived, I showed him the furniture, and he got straight to work.
A few minutes later, he called me over and explained why the problem kept recurring: the hinges weren’t positioned correctly when the furniture was originally built.
That’s why it broke so easily every time it was repaired.
He proposed disassembling the entire piece and repositioning the hinges properly.
I agreed and left him to it.
Hours later, he called to say he was done.
When I checked, the difference was clear.
The doors closed firmly and smoothly, something I’d never seen before.
I asked for his fee, expecting it to be higher because of the extra work he had done.
But he simply asked for the amount we had agreed upon before he started.
Before his arrival, I had another project I planned to give to a different carpenter.
However, seeing the diligence and excellence this carpenter demonstrated, I decided to give him the job instead.
When I shared the news, his excitement was contagious.
His attention to detail and commitment to quality earned him more work.

Moral:
Don’t just do things for the sake of doing them. Do them with excellence.
Even the smallest acts of diligence and professionalism can open doors to bigger opportunities. Excellence speaks louder than words, every single time. If it’s not excellent, it’s not worth doing.
Keep raising the bar.
Have a great week ahead…!
